Germany

Regrettably, we did not get much time at all to spend in Germany, but it was the starting point for our big trip.  We first jumped a train from Munich to Fussen, to see the Famous Neuschwanstein castle, (which Disney used as a model for the Cinderella castled). With any luck, I will be able to go back and spend a week just bopping around Germany.

Rome Italy

After an interesting 12 hour on a sleeper car train from Munich, we arrived in Rome on a very Rainy Thursday. We were able to spend a full 12 hours in Rome and I can't wait to go back.  We started off getting off the Metro at the foot of the ruins of THE Roman Coliseum, and the rest of the day just kept getting better and better.
In all we probably walked around 15 miles that day through the streets of Rome, No tour busses, guides or Taxies, just walking, "when in Rome".

Getting to walk through the Coliseum was unbelievable.

Let's just say that this is DEFIANTLY one thing that I can check off of my

"Things to do before I die" list.

Paris France

Paris was quick, we had about 4 hours in Paris due to the 16 hour trip from Rome.

The Netherlands

Getting to the Netherlands was of course the real reason for the trip.  We came in Friday night riding first class on a bullet train from Paris (a story by itself).  We met Robert Voss at his club around 10:00 and that was just the beginning of the night,  and that night was just the beginning of a great weekend.
Robert Voss was an incredible host and the only mistake that I made was not planning enough time to do all of the events that Robert had planned for us.

We all had a great time Thank you Robert.

On our trip to Europe there were countless differences between our culture here in the U.S. and  that of any given country in Europe. European Coffee is outstanding, Breakfast is considered much more important yet it is mostly just bread (and very good).  When the U.S. was building the interstate system, Europe was building an elaborate Train rail system.

BUT by far the biggest difference that we noticed between our American Culture and the  European.....

I think that just about says it all.
